Hello and welcome to Fineducke. Today we will be covering the subject of how one can register for a passport in Kenya. If you are a Kenyan citizen and you are planning to travel abroad or you plan to apply for a Kenyan passport, then passport registration is the first phase of your journey. In this video, I will guide you through the process and what is needed in regard to how you can register for a passport in Kenya.
Firstly, for you to register for a passport, you need to have all the necessary documents. These necessary documents comprise of latest government-issued photo ID card, your original birth certificate, and a valid utility bill. You will also need to have a contact or reference number. This is the number of someone close to you who can be contacted when you are out of reach. If you don't have either of these, you can get them from the National identity management Commission of Kenya.
The next step is to visit the nearest passport office in your area. You can find the list of passport offices in Kenya on the website of the National identity management Commission of Kenya. Once you have found the nearest passport office, you need to visit it with all the necessary documents. They will ask you to fill out some forms and take a photo. After that, they will process your application and let you know if your passport is ready or if you need to submit more documents.
If you are in Nairobi, it is best that you visit Nyayo house with your document. While there, ask for immigration offices and with no doubt, you will receive the help you need.
In some cases, especially if your application has been submitted recently, you may have to wait for a few weeks before you get a call from the passport office to come and pick up your passport. If you are not planning to travel abroad for a few months, then it is recommended that you apply for a new passport instead of registering for an old one.
In conclusion, this was a guide on how to register for a passport in Kenya. Remember to have all the necessary documents ready and visit the nearest passport office with them. Good luck with your application!
