Career coach and CV optimisation expert Hillary Lisimba shared advice for teachers preparing for interviews, emphasising the importance of negotiating for more than just salaries. In an interview with a Kenyan Media Outlet, Lisimba encouraged job seekers to consider broader benefits that could significantly improve their career trajectory.
"Apart from the salary, there are other benefits that jobseekers forget to discuss during the interview. Things like medical cover, bonuses, paid-for courses, and overtime payments," Lisimba explained.
He also urged teachers to inquire about policies regarding study leave.
"If you wanted to take a year off to study, what would be the implications? Would the commission be willing to give you study leave and retain your position upon return?" he added.
This recruitment drive provides a golden opportunity for educators to advance their careers and negotiate for benefits that align with their long-term professional goals. As the December 30 deadline approaches, candidates are encouraged to act swiftly and put their best foot forward.
