2. Harambee Sacco
Harambee Sacco is one of the oldest Saccos in Kenya having been founded in 1970. It first started as a Merry-go round and letter grew into a big financial institution serving hundred thousands of Kenyans; government and private sector members.

There are eligibility criteria for joining Harambee Sacco. The first category of individuals who are allowed to join the Sacco are government employees and those working in reputable non-governmental institutions.
Another category encompasses members who were working for the government or reputable non-government institution but have retired. This group of members are eligible to either continue or terminate their membership.
Moreover, people having formal employment with regular income are allowed to join the sacco as individuals.
Kenyans in the diaspora are also eligible to be members of Harambee sacco. However, the condition for their membership is that they must have a regular legal income.
Chamas, Registered CBOs and NGOs and Corporates are also eligible to join Harambee Sacco.
Lastly, spouses and children of Harambee Sacco members are eligible to join the Sacco, provided they are employed or engaged in business with a regular income.
