Netflix no longer offers its free mobile plan in Kenya, meaning even mobile users now need a paid subscription to continue watching. The good news is that paying for Netflix is straightforward.
You can use M-Pesa GlobalPay, PayPal, or a bank card, depending on what works best for you. This guide explains each payment method step by step.

Quick tip: The Mobile plan is great if you mainly watch on your phone. Standard and Premium are worth it if you share with family or want better picture quality.
Method 1: M-Pesa GlobalPay
This is the easiest and most popular method for Kenyans — no bank card, no PayPal, no hassle. GlobalPay gives you a virtual Visa card linked directly to your M-Pesa wallet.
Step 1: Activate your GlobalPay virtual card
Option A — Via USSD:
- Dial *840# on your Safaricom line
- Select "Activate M-Pesa GlobalPay"
- Accept the terms and follow the prompts
- Note down your virtual card number, expiry date, and CVV from the confirmation message
Option B — Via M-Pesa App:
- Open the M-Pesa App and log in
- Tap Pay → select GlobalPay
- Agree to the terms and activate your card
- Your card details; number, expiry, CVV will be displayed in the app
Step 2: Add the card on Netflix
- Go to netflix.com and sign in (or create an account)
- Go to Account → Membership & Billing → Update payment info
- Select "Credit or Debit Card"
- Enter your GlobalPay virtual card number, expiry date, and CVV
- Confirm — your M-Pesa will be charged immediately
Step 3: Enable Repeat Payments
This step is easy to miss but essential. Without it, your subscription won't renew automatically at the end of the month.
In the M-Pesa App, go to your GlobalPay settings and enable "Repeat Payments." This allows Netflix to charge your M-Pesa wallet automatically each month, as long as you have sufficient balance.
Note on forex fees: Since Netflix charges in US dollars, Safaricom applies a small foreign exchange conversion fee when processing GlobalPay payments. The total cost in Kenyan shillings is shown to you before you confirm, so there are no hidden charges.
Pro tip: The same GlobalPay card works on Spotify, YouTube Premium, Apple TV+, Amazon Prime Video, and other international platforms that accept Visa.
Method 2: Bank Card, Visa and Mastercard
If you have a Kenyan bank card from KCB, Equity, Co-op, ABSA, or any other bank that supports international online payments, you can use it directly on Netflix.
- Log in to Netflix → Account → Membership & Billing
- Select "Credit or Debit Card"
- Enter your card number, expiry date, and CVV
- Save — Netflix will bill you automatically each month
Make sure your card supports recurring online payments. If you're unsure, check with your bank.
Method 3: PayPal
It is possible to link M-Pesa to Paypal via the App. After linking, fund your PayPal account using M-Pesa and then use that to pay for Netflix. There's a small transaction and currency conversion fee involved.
Step 1: Create or log in to your PayPal account
Create a free account at paypal.com if you don't already have one.
Step 2: Fund your PayPal via M-Pesa
- Open M-Pesa and go to Lipa na M-Pesa → Pay Bill
- Enter Business Number: 800088
- Enter your PayPal-registered email address or phone number as the Account Number
- Enter the amount and your M-Pesa PIN to confirm
Step 3: Pay for Netflix via PayPal
- Log in to Netflix → Account → Membership & Billing → Update payment info
- Select "PayPal" as your payment method
- You'll be redirected to PayPal — log in and authorize the billing agreement
- Once confirmed, Netflix will charge your PayPal balance automatically each month
That's it. Pick your method, follow the steps, and you're set. Now go enjoy your next binge.
